Many of our users complained about “not having folder trees” in Pagico. But not any more. Read on to get to know how Pagico turns your tags into millions of tree views, automatically.
Hello everyone! This article demonstrates the whole new “TagExploré” feature in Pagico, and its advantages compared with folders and traditional tags.
Folders’ problem 1: Adding new stuff is time-comsuming.
We all have piles of folders to categorize stuffs. And when I would like to add something new, I have to find the best category it belongs. It often takes me minutes to locate the best category (it has to be accurate, or my well-designed hierarchical folder structure would be for nothing) and throw it in. And when I would like to move it to another category some times later, it takes me another minutes again to do it.
But if I use tags to manage, adding / changing categories would just take seconds.
Folders’ problem 2: only 1 way to browse.
Everyone uses folders to categorize stuff, I did, too. But the problem is that there is only one way to browse them — the way I designed.

In this sample, I can easily find all products by manufacturer’s name, and under their names I can browse easily by product types: hardwares, or softwares, etc.
But the problem is when I’m on a lecture (imagine I’m a professor), sometimes I would like to browse all “hardwares” as soon as possible (my audience won’t like waiting), and that’s not possible at all: I have to go under each manufacture’s name look for them.
It’s still not possible if I would like to browse all the desktop computers immediately.
And, the other problem about folders is that you can not assign two categories for one item (file). Say, PS3 is a product by SONY while it’s processor is from IBM. So, where should you put it? Under SONY or IBM? Or put a duplicate under both manufacture?
In this case, “tags” seems to be the best candidate: you can assign multiple tags to a single item.
Hold on, but tags have disadvantages as well.
Tags’ problem 1: hard to memorize.
Tags are free-form categories, and you can write them as you wish. But them problem is that sometimes you just don’t remember the tag name you should use: just a typo will make it a new tag.
Tags’ problem 2: only 1 level to browse.
Browsing your stuff among tags is easy. But it only offers 1 level to browse, so I can not category my stuff as tree-structures like the picture above.
So, it would be ideal if I can:
1) Categorize new stuff as easy as writing tags;
2) Browse all stuffs in tree structures, but in many different ways;
3) Assign single stuffs into multiple categories without duplicating;
Manage as easy as using tags.
Pagico allows you to manage topics by tags. Write tags as you want.
Pagico remembers tags for you.
You don’t have to memorize the tag names. When needed, Pagico provides all previously used tags for selection. In most cases, you just assign tags by mouse clicking, rather than typing them all the time.
Pagico generates tree views based on your tags, on the fly.
Your tags in Pagico are transformed into tree views automatically. Therefore, you have millions of ways to browse all your stuff.

TagExploré = unlimited ways of browsing + unlimited depth + all automatically.
The “TagExploré” feature is now available, get it now (free download).
I hope this program is easy to use.
I am having trouble getting paypal to register the information; Can you bill me and I will send a check.?
Hello there, I’ve sent a message to your mailbox.
I have yet to activate my copy of Pagico as I evaluate it for my needs. When I look at the Tag Explore feature I don’t see a tree of topics having multiple tags. I also don’t understand what the purpose is of tags in activities. Is the Tag Explore feature disabled in the demo versions?
Hi Michael: Nothing is disabled in trial period.
You should be able to see something like the image in this article, and that’s the TagExplore feature, which is generated based on your uses of tags for topics.
And, tags in activities are just for statistic purposes. You’ll be able to see the statistic data for each tag you used with activities.
Hope that helps.
Thank you for you reply, but unfortunately it doesn’t exactly help. I don’t see anything like youyour graphic example. I am assuming (and this is where I may be going wrong) that if two or more topics share the same topic tags, in Tag Explore, the tree will expand to show that relationship. For example, if I have a topic “kinds of pets” and a second topic “my pets” and they both have the tags “dogs, cats”, in TagExplore shouldn’t the tree show dogs –>my pets or something like that?
I can’t believe no one has commented here on the feature TagExploré. I have had this concept in my mind for several years and (unless I’m missing something) your app is the first one to implement it. And you did it nearly exactly as I envisioned it, and for the exact reasons I had. Tags are great but limited. Folders are also limited. Working together they are more than the sum of their parts.
I don’t understand TagExplorer. I am using latest Windows beta. Are tags hierarchical or not? If I tag a topic “CAMERAS, DIGITAL, PENTAX, K20D” is this the same as “CAMERAS PENTAX, K20D, , DIGITAL”, i.e. does the order matter? Shouldn’t I see ALL of these in the left-most part of the tree? I don’t. So i have the same issue as Michael?
Sorry but I am confused
